If you are on the hunt for a mid-range service that provides all the functionality to be able to host a website at an affordable cost then it’s worth taking a look at Domain.com. As part of a bigger organisaiton that owns more than 30 other other hosting brands, they have the experience to offer the best but do fall short in a few areas.
Generally, the hosting, prices and support are all average and will help any basic user get their site online within minutes, through their main focus which is shared hosting plans.
Why Choose Domain.com Hosting?
Focused mainly on shared hosting
Solid support network for the USA

Unclear Uptime Statistics
A bit of sticky area when it comes to reliability as its a mixed bag of feedback and details. Whilst the site itself does not offer any stats on uptime, uptime guarantees, or any kind of information or details regarding there data centre location, they do state they have a Tier 1 facility offering full redundancy and 24/7 monitoring, but there is no mention of backups for shared hosting.
Adding to this, there are a lot of online reviews that talk about poor uptime, whilst other state they have received excellent uptime, so its a bit unstable to say the least.
If you arent too fussed about having a 99.5%+ uptime and are more interested in the features and affordability range, then I wouldnt worry.
Basic Features & Tools
Even the cheapest plans on offer with Domain.com come with some great features such as unlimited disk space and bandwidth, whilst the expensive tiered packages will offer a greater range of features from unlimited FTP accounts and email accounts. In terms of the variety of features, you won’t find many here as Domain.com tend to offer just the basics.
Even though CPanel is mentioned you can’t really see which plan this falls under or if it is a hidden cost. They actually have their own custom control panel which you will need to get accustomed to.
There are some extra freebies which include some marketing coupons that you can use on Google or Bing advertising platforms, you tend to get these when signing up for a hosting platform. You can also register a domain and install CMS systems such as WordPress into your site.
Good Support Services if You Are Within The USA
The best ways to get in contact with the support team over at Domain.com is by use of a ticket system and a toll free number (if you are based in the US). Tutorials and helpful guides are avialable in the knowledge base, this includes a guide on how to use DomainCentral, which is Domain.com’s custom made control panel.
Live chat is available on the site, but its primary focus is for sales themed questions, so you are out of luck if you have a technical question that you want to ask. I would revert back to email or phone.
Live chat for sales
Live chat only for sales
No support team location mentioned
Your Average Pricing Structure
There are 3 different plans available under Windows and Linux setups, and each plan consists of some saving when you commit to longer periods. You can choose between 1,2 or 3 year terms and the cheapest option is the Linux Basic plan which starts off at $3.75 per month. If you are looking to take out a Windows hosted plan then you just need to add $1 to each plan, so the Basic Plan starts at $4.75 whilst the top plan comes in at $14.75 per month.
VPS plans start at $29.70 per month, and they regularly run promotional codes across the site to either help you make a saving or benefit from extra freebies, such as a free domain when signing up.
You Will Need to Get Used to a Custom Control Panel
Depending on which platform and plan you have decided to go with, you will come against a different Control Panel, which can confuse things a little. DomainCentral is the custom created control panel offered by Domain.com and you will see this run across all shared hosting options. As it is there own control panel you will need to get used to how it works and where to find everything.
This can be a bit of a nuisance for some people as you will need to either jump in and learn as you go, or read through a guide that can be found in the knowledge base section.
VPS users do get CPanel, but its worth checking if this is an additional fee as it doesn’t state.
Decent Hosting Provider For Basic Users
Domain.com is a fairly average hosting platform which can be the ideal solution for customers who just want basic features at a decent price. You will need to get used to a custom control panel is shared hosting is something that you require, and uptime cannot be guaranteed so you will be jumping in at the deep end here.
Support lines are pretty good with a solid service that offers phone, email, live chat and ticketing, but be aware live chat is only open for sales chatter so tech questions will need to be forwarded on through phone or email lines.
You can't cancel subscription for website builder by yourself. They steal your money.
When you decide to stop using a website builder, you have the option to delete your website. However, if you delete your website, it may appear that your subscription has been canceled, and the website builder may offer you a new free trial for a month. Unfortunately, the subscription may still be active and the website builder will continue to charge you $5 per month. The only way to cancel the subscription is to contact their support team. I was charged at least $25 before I realized this, and although I contacted support, they only agreed to refund my last payment. Please be careful when using this website builder's services to avoid unexpected charges.
Untill now, for every website or service that related me with domain.com, I have a perfect experience with all the tools that they offer. Simply, there are no words to be found in order to express the fascination that You obtain from the domain.com.
Good Builder/Hosting for a Personal Portfolio Site
I use Domain.com to host my constantly updating portfolio as a Video Producer. After building it for 2 days or so I am now able to quickly swap out older projects with newer ones easily. I do wish it had some more functionality but it suits my needs.
Initial email synch with Domain was a day or two, but they got it worked out. So far, all is going well. I like their web design tools too. No complaints. Support staff was very proactive, friendly, and got me squared away. SSL certificate was easy to obtain as well. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is because I just started with Domain. Otherwise, I'm a happy client!
Switched my domain to host my email and have had nothing but trouble Support from domain including the escalated support is slow and useless and it has been almost a month now that i cant get emails at my personal domain as the list of problems goes on and on and my email provider can not validate the domain. I have tried multiple providers including proton, gmail and iCloud and they all say the same thing that the issue is on domain.com side and domain.com support says thats not true.
My 60 day lock can not be over fast enough as they have cost me business, time and ruined so many things for myself and my users avoid like the plague
If I can figure out how to create my own website, anyone can
I bought a domain and created a website through domain.com, and I did it not knowing anything about how to do so, or even how or where to begin. When I say that they make it so simple that pretty much anyone can figure it out on their own (if you take the time to read through the support they provide), I really mean that. I tried another hosting provider, thinking that I could find a better choice out there, and that's what truly made me appreciate domain.com even more, as the other hosting provider's site was awful, they had terrible stock photos to choose from, gave zero instruction, and had ridiculously more expensive fees for the exact same services, and even charged recurring fees for some of the services that domain.com offers for free. This made me transfer my new domain, that I had purchased and hosted elsewhere, right on over to domain.com with my other website, with a newfound appreciation for just how awesome of a site this is for it's users. They don't overcharge for every little thing like most other sites do, which made me just want to say f*ck it, and scrap the entire idea of having a website at all. In fact, if it wasn't for domain.com's fairness and genuine value provided, I would have done just that. Thankfully, I didn't have to give up on my dream because of greedy, money hungry corporations overcharging me ridiculously for their own selfish gain. No, luckily, there are still good people out there running businesses the right way and actually maintaining fair pricing and genuine value to their customers. So thankful for the people at domain.com, who actually have integrity and morals, which reflects in their products and services and the fees they charge. That's something I will gladly continue to support and do my business with, and it's actually quite refreshing to come across. I have nothing but good things to say about domain.com, they saved my dream from being tossed into nothingness, by giving great service and at a very fair, sustainable price, and for that I will eternally be grateful because without them, I would never have been able to start making my dreams a reality, and I would be hopelessly stuck in a life and job that I didn't want to be stuck in. Please do not ever change your fair pricing structure, domain.com, because without your services, there are a lot of people in the world who never would have been able to start chasing their dream and making it a reality, and I would be one of those people. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you for giving me a genuine reason to write a good review! Your company is amazing and I don’t understand why people are leaving bad reviews when that couldn’t be further from my experience. I honestly think it’s competitors or people who don’t want to put in a few minutes of reading and effort to be able to get things up and running, and that didn’t sit well with me because you guys are really amazing and offer great service at great prices and I don’t agree with the bad reviews at all l, and I had to share my experience so people know how awesome domain.com really is! Thank you!
