Hetzner is a hosting company based in Germany. The company appears to have won quite a few awards including the GreenIT best practice award 2011, Bayerns Best 50 in 2012, and EMEA 2012 finalists. That being said, however, their website is very simple and poorly designed, which is unfortunate. They do offer a number of different services that will likely meet your needs, and they have hosting based in Germany, which will be nice for many companies who are targeting that country or anywhere in Europe.
Uptime & Reliability
Not much information on uptime
I looked through their site and could not find any type of uptime guarantee or an approximate history of their uptime. They do seem to use high quality hardware and data center facilities, which will likely limit any issues. When I looked for reviews, and on their social media pages I did not find any indication that they are having any significant issues. There was one person who commented that his site was down, but no matter how good the hosting is, you will have at least a few people complaining.
Plenty of hosting options
This company offers basic shared hosting, VPS and dedicated hosting options (if you looking for WordPress hosting, click here). They also have colocation options, domain registration and more. Most of the features in each package they offer are fairly standard. One really weird thing about their packages is they offer them based on levels, but not in a normal way. For example, the entry level package is Level 1, but the next step up is Level 4 and then they jump to Level 9. This just makes the whole thing more confusing than is needed. There are limits on disk space and transfer volume, though bandwidth does become unlimited after the level 1 package. Most everything you could want in a package will be included at no extra charge, which is nice.
Good quality support features
This company has a lot of options when it comes to getting the support you need. You can email them directly, or use their ’email support robot’ which can answer many issues. THey also have a lot of documentation avaialble to help you with self-service. If you want to talk to a real person, they have a ticketing system that gets quick responses. Overall, they do a good job of supporting the hosting that they provide.
Fair pricing model
The prices are in Euros and are pretty much either in line with industry standards or slightly lower. Level 1 starts at 1.90 Euro per month, and then the highest level of shared hosting is $19.90 Euro per month. This includes the 19% VAT, which makes the pricing even more acceptable. Overall, however, there is not much to complain about regarding their pricing structure.
Overall nice hosting option
When you look at their site you may think that they are a very basic/simple hosting company because of the design. It looks like they created the website years ago and never had it updated. Once you get past that, however, you can see that they offer a good service at a fair price. If you are looking for German based hosting, this isn’t a bad option to consider. Pros:
If you're looking to get a server and you don't really need any tech support your in the good place. As a sys admin using those services for 4-5 years I can say that i did not have any problems, I even ran a mail server and the IP reputation was clean. They take the abuse report seriously but if you take good care of the problems it's fast to resolve. DDOS Protection is not comparable to the likes of OVH but as long as you're running only webservices you can proxy everything trough cloudflare and that is not an issue. I would recommend.

Absolutely the most disgusting company I have ever encountered. I have been a customer for 5 years, and there has been an excessive amount of downtime, resulting in nothing but financial losses for me. Thankfully, I have finally severed ties with them and I am thrilled to be transitioning to a more dependable service provider.
Strange feeling remains. I encountered such behavior for the first time.
I understand that the company has a good reputation in the market, and many people are satisfied with their services. That's why I decided to create an account and try their services. Perhaps in the future, I would consider using their services to promote my startup (a photo editor) if everything went well. I liked their prices and the wide selection of servers.
But something strange happened!
The experience of using their services (if I can call it that) was brief: I registered, provided all my contact information, credit card number, and other personal details. I even uploaded a photo of my passport and a facial picture. Then the system displayed an error message stating that the verification process couldn't be completed automatically. Well, these things happen, right? Maybe I forgot to provide some necessary information. Unfortunately, there was no further helpful information about the error, only a vague message without any useful details that could have helped me understand the issue. So, I emailed their support team, asking for guidance on what to do in such a situation and requesting their assistance in completing the verification process. Seems logical, doesn't it?
At that moment, I was ready to go through the verification process again and provide additional data and documents if needed. And here's the interesting part: they replied to my email stating that they had deleted my account (using a standard template email). They provided no specific reasons, only abstract ones. My account was genuinely deleted! Draw your own conclusions.
I've seen similar rejections in the reviews of other users. This company responds as if they are protecting themselves from fraud and other issues. Everywhere, it's the same generic response.
I want to ask other users to evaluate the risks adequately before submitting their personal data to this company because, based on my subjective opinion, there is a sense of unprofessionalism, even during the user data verification process, along with inappropriate behavior and disregard from their customer support.
I'm not discouraging anyone from using their services; you have the right to decide for yourself. As a reasonable person and software developer, I understand that mistakes happen everywhere, both in programs and made by people. But the worst part is the unwillingness to address them. What would you do if you were simply ignored? Or if your account was deleted without explanation, even after a strong request? It's good to have a plan B; it brings a sense of security.
To all the good-hearted people out there, I wish you kindness and success in your endeavors! Thank you for reading. A special thanks to the company for banning me at the very beginning, rather than when users of my product would have lost access at an inconvenient time. I respect my users. Everything going well before any problem, no way you get answer no action taken, seams like they don't care and I think they have some motto as lot you ask as slow they response!!!! Wanted to rate price higher but as you loose on each situation better get another server.
Also all there hardware always fails and if this happens same thing they just don't care first answer is broad and maybe fast but after hell is starting!
We rent some servers from Hetzner. We are hosting providers. One of our customers uses their own mail server for correspondence. The client's mail server was hacked and sent out about 1000 spam mails. The mails were not sent through our server, this is proven by the log attached by Hetzner. Now hetzner is threatening to ban us from the IP address of the server we rented if we don't declare the mailing. I have sent several times a statement that we do not acknowledge the problem as it is not our leased server that is sending the spam. The customer concerned has already resolved the problem to my knowledge.
For over a week they have been messaging me and threatening me to admit to an incident that I had nothing to do with. It is appalling how unreliable this service provider is and the degree of uncertainty it exposes its own customers to, all without any legal basis. They give 24 hours for any response, but they do not reply for days.
Hi all 🙂 I am using their shared managed webhosting package to host my WordPress websites and I am very happy with the stability and performance. The dashboard looks a bit 90's and can be quirky, but is quite powerful and gets the job done. With the right caching and configuration for a website the performance will be superb. Also talked to support with a few questions, and they were fast and accurate. Happy customer!
Абсолютный обман и воровство личных данных. После регистрации нужно пройти верификацию. Я прошел ее 3 раза и мне через день заблокировали аккаунт. Без объяснения причин, им просто что-то не понравилось. Возможно моя фотка не понравилась или моя национальность, а может цвет кожи. В общем, эта компания найдет причины вам отказать. Я связывался с поддержкой, на что я получил ответ "Мы не обязаны раскрывать детали отказа". А какого хрена вы не обязаны? Я принял ваше соглашение, дайте мне внятный ответ отказа после того, как я доверил вам свои персональные данные. Конченные, поддержка конченная. После того как мне ответила поддержка всего один раз из 6 обращений. За людей вас тут не держат, вас считают тут просто никем. Даже объяснить нормально не могут конкретную причину и добавлю, я был готов пройти сотни проверок тогда, только чтобы мне дали ещё одну возможность верификации, но нет, им не интересно это.
Короче, если бы компания давала ещё возможность пройти верификацию, если бы давали внятную причину, а не ссылались на какие-то размытые правила, затем добавляя "мы не можем раскрыть подробности блокировки". Если бы не все вышеперечисленное и быстрая реакция поддержки — хостинг бы рекомендовал, но сейчас у меня желание писать миллионы отзывов об этой компании, чтобы предотвратить скам персональных данных.
I have been developing websites and promoting websites on the Internet for 15 years for small and medium businesses, I have been ordering servers for a long time and have had no problems, but this is the first time I've seen such a disgusting attitude. After registration, my account during the selection of the country Ukraine was at high risk, and after a thorough verification procedure, the account was deleted. Ok. Say "we don't accept clients from Ukraine because of the sanctions policy, or anything. No way. The account is simply deleted for no reason, and as a joke, the support tells me that They cannot find out the reason, why did they delete me. I feel like a third-class person Who can't have any rights. Definitely don't recommend this company at all, because of the complete unpredictability and poor attitude towards people without any reason.
