Lease Web is a great hosting company that provides high quality services that are very reliable. They are based in the Netherlands, but have data centers in Europe, the US and Asia. They seem to have done a great job building up their reputation for being one of the most reliable hosting companies around. They are dedicated to using top quality hardware for their servers, and keeping everything up to date with the latest technologies.
They offer cloud hosting for most of their customers, but also have VPS and dedicated solutions for those who prefer that. The company really seems to make it a priority to provide their customers with the exact services that they want.
Uptime & Reliability
Extremely Reliable Hosting
The ‘catch phrase’ of this company is ‘reliable hosting’ and they seem to live up to that promise. Oddly, I did not see any type of actual uptime guarantee though. Given their high quality hardware, great data centers, quality tech support and overall reputation, however, this should not be too much of a concern. They will undoubtedly provide you with a very reliable hosting experience.
Quality Hardware & More
The first thing you’ll notice when looking through their site is that they seem to focus on high end hardware. They call them ‘Bare Metal’ servers, which are very reliable and fast. They have the option for SSD drives and are very flexible with the exact features you need.
If you go with a dedicated server, you can customize it with exactly what you need, though they do have a lot of packages to choose from so that may not be necessary. You can also choose where you want your server located, which is a nice perk.
The cloud hosting solutions are all top of the line and are very fast when it comes to loading your page. They are generous with the hardware specs as well.
There are some limitations on things like disk space and bandwidth, but they are high enough that it won’t likely be an issue for most customers. It is something that you should be aware of, however, depending on the type of site you are going to be running.
Great 24/7 Support
This company seems to know that you can’t have truly reliable hosting without great 24/7 tech support. It is not 100% clear where their IT team is located, so that could be a concern for some customers, but there aren’t any complaints that I have found from their customers so it is not likely to be a big problem.
They also have a great self-help section that will provide you with a lot of useful information for keeping your site up and running at all times.
Surprisingly Low Prices
The prices are surprisingly low. That is not to say they are cheap, because they aren’t. When you compare the level of hardware and other features you’re getting with what other companies offer for a similar price, however, you will see that the prices are extremely affordable. That being said, if you don’t need this level of hosting, such as for a personal blog or something, this company may be ‘over kill’.
Very Nice Hosting Option for Anyone
This is a great company to consider no matter where you’re from. They may not be ideal for entry level sites, but beyond that, they will meet and exceed your needs no matter what type of hosting solution you need. They come highly recommended by their users and have a very good reputation.
They are very professional and I am satisfied to have my business with them! I wish the team to be successful and grow up with the number of their customers as much as it's possible.
Like their Support team!!!
I switched my hosting and domain registrar to leaseweb.com. That was perhaps my biggest mistake I ever made. These guys are extreme mess. It took them 10 days to finally transfer my domains and set up a simple Linux shared hosting to serve my domains which are on their own server!
Customer service is a complete joke. Every time I talked to them I got a different answer and none of them had enough knowledge to help simple questions about DNS problem and even status of the order no matter on the phone or by chat. Some of their CS personnel are quite rude during the phone call and chat.
Invoicing system is a bigger joke. I paid for the domain transfer and hosting during the transfer but they keep sending me invoices for the same domain and hosting. Good that I checked the invoice details before paying. I can imagine that they make quite some money out of bigger customer who cannot check the details of all invoices and compare to the previous ones to avoid double payments.
The shared hosting features they offer is the worst I have ever seen. Less than 12 applications where most of them are not even the latest releases.
All prices they advertise is before BTW and they smartly hide it before the invoice comes in. Even on the phone they mention ex. BTW prices without mentioning that it is in fact ex. BTW.
I am only waiting for the end of the year to switch my registrar.
Our 20 years of datacenter experience says: Avoid leaseweb!
We, unixverse, work together with a lot of datacenters mainly based in germany. I have to say that leaseweb was the worst that we have ever worked with. From wiping servers to "you have to change your server because it no longer makes money for us" to defect hardware we had to do a lot of reinstalling of our servers on our own cost. The quality of both, their hardware used and their line is very bad. There is packet loss when transfering UDP making it impossible to use for important services like DNS or Game Hosting services. The latency and TCP quality is not much better. We recommend every serious project to choose an other location. What we have learend from being 20 years in the business is: Avoid Leaseweb.
I to am a Ubiquity customer. I notice the same people because why would they not keep the technical staff? I see the same service I got before. I have managed servers and I pay for this but when there is a problem they look into it themselves and fix the issue. I have never been down very long except when I got massively hacked years back. Now they have added extra security for me and I have not been hacked since. I want my servers to be good, fast, stable, and quick fixes for when there is a problem and I am happy with the great service I get. But like I said I pay for the managed servers so maybe these bad reviews are self service and they can't fix their own problem. I don't know but I am happy.
I was a Ubiquity customer for 7 years with dedicated and cloud based servers. LeaseWeb bought them out a few months back and ever since there has been nothing but issues. Cloud down time, weird billing with little to no transparency and support that is nowhere near responsive enough when there are critical issues.
As I type this my dedicated server is down for now over 27 hours, which hosts one of our subscription websites and I have yet to find out why it is down or when it will be back up.
Its a shame as I see familiar support names from the Ubiquity days but I am assuming the people behind the screen are different as the level of support
I am with leaseweb.com since 2013. I have hosting there.
During this time my website was downtime couple of times, but not for so long. Mostly ~15-30 min. On Polish hostings was sometimes worse. All in all I am quite satisfied.
Support is very gentle and helpful. Unfortunately I noticed a lack of knowledge, which caused that changing DNS servers took about 4 days instead of 24-48h.
They are willing to compansate mistakes or go in favour of client's needs. For example I wanted to change server before my old server 1-year-period has ended. They gave me such opportunity with sending money back and 14 days free to set up new one.
Summary I would recommend them to small and average businesses.
Had many MANY sites of mine cloned by a Webmaster who hosted by them. Checked several times, got if confirmed from other Webmasters too and so I went to their site, wanted to open an Abuse Ticket what didn't work, as sime requirements in the form were not met. So I used the impremented Chat and was told to write to email@example.com .. EASY I thought. I was so wrong. First they told me that they would be the wrong departement for that kind of request (Why was I told then to write them?!) Furthermore I was told that they couldn't do something, as it is not their site and they wouldn't be responsible ... Well sure, I also would protect my Customer as much as possible, too bad that they get themselfes into the same boat as these spammer/scammers ... So please beware! You do not wont to get messed up into the same mess.
I rented a cheap $7/month virtual server for around half a year by LeaseWeb. I pre-paid LeaseWeb services every month in advance, then switched to another project and forgot about LeaseWeb. Although LeaseWeb obviously suffered no losses (since they always charge in advance) they found it appropriate to charge me $150 dollars (equivalent of ~22 months usage of the same server + plus $7 for the next month). If you consider using LeaseWeb as your service provider you should make sure to inform yourself about the outrageous hidden costs the company may impose on you.Recently, when I again needed a virtual server and ordered one by LeaseWeb, they first lots of personal documents (copy of a credit card, copy of my passport and my proof of address). Ok, I provided it all the same day and expected the standard VM be ready within 24h. However, even in 3 days the machine wasn't there... And only after numerous emails initiated from my side (why??) and only replied with a significant delay it turns out they had my order "suspended"...LeaseWeb support (Monica Strother and Stephanie Butler) found all these proceedings appropriate obviously think this is the kind of service their clients deserve
