Vantage Opens New Greenfield Data Centers in Berlin and Warsaw

Vantage Data Centers, a global provider of hyperscale data center campuses, has built two new greenfield data center campuses in Berlin and Warsaw. The company’s first location in Poland opened in Warsaw, while the Berlin development is the company’s second in Germany.

The new locations are part of Vantage’s $2 billion European expansion, which seeks to give hyperscalers and cloud providers best-in-class data center campuses in two highly sought-after areas. In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), five of Vantage’s nine campuses are presently active (Berlin I, Warsaw, Frankfurt I, Zurich, and Cardiff).

Vantage has completed the first data center on its 13-acre (five-hectare) two-building project near the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport. When finished, the campus will have 32MW of electricity spread over 250,000 square feet (24,000 square meters) and will house some of the world’s most inventive technical enterprises.

The campus is noted for its ecologically friendly construction, which provides customers with hyper-efficient cooling utilizing outside air economization while using minimal water, in addition to its well-connected location and flexible growth possibilities. Solar energy will be used to power non-critical areas of the data center complex, such as office space, with waste heat being recovered and made available to the local community.

Vantage just announced the opening of its second Frankfurt data center site in Raunheim this September. Both Frankfurt campuses, when completely constructed, would supply clients with a total of 95MW of potential IT capacity in the Frankfurt region.

Andreas Igel, who serves the role of Mayor at Ludwigsfelde, had the following to say:

“Data centers are the backbone of our digitalized world and therefore also an important part of the success of the industries based in Ludwigsfelde. As a technology location, we are delighted that Vantage has chosen our city in the metropolitan area of Berlin for its new campus, and we extend a warm welcome to them.”

Vantage has also completed the first data center on its 12-acre Warsaw facility (five hectares). When completed, the two-data-center facility will supply 48MW of vital IT capacity over 390,000 square feet (36,000 square meters). The Warsaw Campus of Vantage Data Centers will open in June 2022.

This campus is located near Warsaw-Chopin Airport, Poland’s major airport, at the crossroads of Western and Eastern Europe. It uses renewable energy and features ultra-efficient cooling with outside air economization and minimum water consumption, just like the rest of Vantage’s data center sites in North America and Europe. Clients may use electric car charging stations, as well as other amenities such as adjustable workstations, secure storage, and several meeting room options.

Grzegorz Pietruczuk, who serves the role of Mayor at Bielany, had the following to say:

I’m very happy that a campus with data centers has been built in the Bielany district. We need new technologies, and as a district office, we support this development. It’s also worth mentioning that Vantage Data Centers is open to cooperating with the local community and has supported many initiatives of our office since the beginning of their presence in the district.

Antoine Boniface, who serves the role of President at EMEA at Vantage Data Centers, had the following to say:

Launching new facilities in Berlin and Warsaw creates much-needed outlets for pent-up demand from companies desiring a local presence in these regions. We are thrilled to welcome customers to our latest data centers and look forward to continuing to serve their needs wherever they may be. Vantage now offers options in key markets for companies looking to expand their digital footprint across the entirety of Europe and beyond.

Since entering the continent as a new market in February 2020, Vantage has made significant investments to expand its services and meet demand in new regions. In addition to Berlin and Warsaw, Vantage has operating campuses in Frankfurt, Zurich, and Cardiff and is actively building second campuses in Berlin and Frankfurt, as well as additional data center campuses in Milan and Johannesburg.
