Interview cover imageCan you tell us a bit more about the success story of VPS Malaysia?

Christina:

was started by our CEO in 2012, he started the business due to he could not find a cheap VPS in Malaysia, all other providers were selling at an expensive price at that time.

He wanted to use local bandwidth and network for his own purpose, however, he could not find a cheaper VPS provider in Malaysia. He knew the price should not be that expensive as he had a small hosting business in the USA at the same time and he was experienced and knew detail in the hosting. That made him think to do the same in Malaysia.

In the same year, he bought the domain name ‘VPSMalaysia.com.my’ and server hardware then rented a colocation space. He started this business as he wanted to use it for his own and sell other remaining unused resources.

He sold the VPS at a very cheap price which was only half the price of the other hosting providers at that time.

His goal is to provide a reasonable VPS price, thus every Malaysian can enjoy

at a lower price. Few years till now, our company mission is the same.

Today,

the largest cloud VPS provider in Malaysia.

What were the challenges that you needed to overcome over the years in building the company?

Christina: A good colocation and network provider. Along the way, we have gone through a few colocation providers which couldn’t meet our requirement.

What are the main products and services of VPS Malaysia?

Christina:

, Windows VPS, Linux VPS, Linux KVM VPS, Forex VPS.

You have become the largest cloud VPS hosting provider in Malaysia. Can you tell us a bit more about the steps that you took to reach this achievement?

Christina: The price-performance ratio is high in

’s products and services. Customers could spend lower prices among others and enjoy premium quality and service.

Many of the customers are not familiar with the hosting services and products. What is your approach with those customers and how do they become loyal to your company?

Christina: We provide much range of hosting services, by supporting our customers from their basic needs until their businesses grow. We provide flexible plans and upgrading services, from individuals to big companies. We work closely with potential customers to understand their needs and design customized solutions to fix their hosting needs.

As I mentioned in the previous question, many of the customers don’t know a thing about the hosting product and services. For example, shared and dedicated servers. Can you explain what is the difference between a shared and dedicated server?

Christina: A

is a server that is shared among multiple users. This provides better value for money but it might not perform when you needed the most.

A

is a server that only has 1 user. The system resources are reserved and dedicated for you.

You are an active hosting provider on the market in Malaysia. Do you offer your services to other countries as well? What are your plans for expansion?

Christina: We have been started for international expansion with several domain names registered. We want to provide the same benefit of a high price-performance ratio to the customers worldwide. Moreover, we cater to niche markets and develop different products for each niche, such as Forex VPS Hosting which is exclusively designed for Forex Traders to run their MT4 24/7.

Where do you see your company in the next 5 years?

Christina: We would be serving and providing more value to international clients. Apart from that, we would also have more server locations.

What do you think is the most important feature that one hosting provider needs to have in order to be successful?

Christina: We focus on customer feedback and satisfaction. Our team discusses customer feedback (good or bad) every 2 weeks. Our team designs products based on customer’s feedback. We develop new technology and products for customers based on user experience and keep on making improvements in order to provide more value to them.

Finally, what advice would you like to share with the hosting community on success?

Christina: Always try to provide the best quality hosting to the user, because customers will not stay if they don’t like your hosting.
