Hosting seems very reliable

Ihosting goes into great detail on their page to explain that they have multiple levels of redundancy for their operations; multiple paths for electrical power, air conditioning, perimeter and internal security appear to be quite high.

Fairly normal hosting features available

One of the main features that Ihosting advertises is that they own their own datacenter.  As more than just a reseller, this allows the firm to manage much more than data usage offered by many hosting concerns that are at least one “layer” removed from the physical operations.  One feature of their site is a meter that measures the customer’s ISP performance from their location to the Ihosting facility; this is a simple tool but allows customers to determine if any response issues are a result of their local provider versus response from Ihosting’s systems.

Audio streaming is another part of Ihosting’s offerings, with guaranteed bandwidth, low latency, high availability, and the host clusters located in Chile to allow customers to seamlessly access data streams at any time.  Signals are transmitted non-stop to allow listening via radio or online media.

Several different facets of design and engineering are available.  Web presence, mobile platforms, online strategy and application development are all offered with the goal of providing customers with a “one-stop shop” for all of their data and online needs.

Cloud hosting is only offered for the Linux platform; several levels are offered to allow the small or large business to get the capability and services needed.  Dedicated servers are available, but only basic information is available without registering with the company.

Support

Limited live support hours

While Ihosting has several lines of business, I was surprised to see that they did not have 24/7 live support coverage; the site states that live support is offered Monday-Friday from 9:30-14:00 and 15:00 to 19:30 local time.  The company does state that technicians are available 24/7, but requests need to be submitted through a “coffee table” forum; I did not see a FAQ page or online ticketing system in place.

Reasonable pricing

The entry-level hosting package has 1 GB of disk space, 18 GB of data transfer, 2 subdomains and 2 databases, email service, cluster service and SAN storage at $25,000 CLP  ($40.12 USD) annually; this may be a typographical error as all other prices listed are monthly quotes.   Organizations with more demanding needs can opt for the top package which offers 45 GB of disk space, unlimited data transfer, root access and weekly backups for $67,000 CLP (107.53 USD) monthly.

Dedicated servers, as expected, are significantly more but offer 1 TB of disk space, 4 GB RAM, unlimited data transfer powered by a Xeon quad-core processor operating at 3.1 Ghz. Cost for the base dedicated server starts at $125,000 CLP ($200.61 USD) monthly.

Streaming audio starts at $18,000 CLP ($28.89 USD) monthly for a bit rate of 128kbps, 1 TB data transfer and 1 GB of “AutoDJ” service.

Unlike most hosting companies, Chile’s value-added tax (VAT) is included with all services; this boosts the value offered as the VAT is often 15-22%.

As you’d expect, the design and engineering services are quoted individually based on the customer’s specifications.

Ihosting appears to be a very reliable organization dedicated to supplying small to enterprise size businesses with high quality services with innovation and service delivery as their chief objectives.
