SiteServing has been in business since 2000, and they remain a privately held company. They operate out of their offices in Richmond, Virgina, which appear to be where their data centers are located as well. The company provides shared, VPS and dedicated servers to their customers, with the bulk of their options being in the VPS category.
The company markets itself as being very focused on customer service and satisfaction, and prove this through their 45 day money back guarantee. This guarantee, however, is only for shared hosting, and it drops down to just 15 days for VPS customers and 5 for dedicated servers. While this is significantly less than the 45, it is still better than many other hosting companies are able to offer.
Overall most people seem to be very happy with the services provided by this company, and they continue to grow and expand through both traditional marketing and a quality affiliate program that allows people to promote their services.
SiteServing offers a 99.99% uptime guarantee, which is very generous. The problem is, they don’t make it clear what happens if they drop below this SLA. In most cases when it is not clearly defined, it simply means they will give you credit for any time you are down beyond that point. This isn’t really much of a guarantee at all.
Unfortunately, the first time I went to write this review and was doing research, their site was actually offline. I am not sure how long it was down in total, but it is not really a good sign. Of course, this could have just been a fluke coincidence.
This company will give you everything you need in your hosting package so that you don’t have to worry about paying for extras unless there is a specific requirement that is out of the ordinary. Included are things like Fantastico and Softaculous, which allow for one click installation of hundreds of apps including Joomla, WordPress, phpBB and more.
You’ll also get cPanel for your control panel. This is largely considered to be the best control panel in the industry so it is nice that they have that available for free. A fairly simple but effective website creation tool also comes included.
The technical teams with this company are based in the US, which is nice. They are easy to get in touch with through their phone, live chat, email or ticketing systems. Once you talk to a technician they have a good reputation for being able to fix problems quickly and easily.
They do have a very extensive knowledge base, boasting over 1000 articles and hundreds of videos to help you learn more about the hosting that you need. This is great for self-help and general learning about hosting services.
This company has a few shared hosting options and a few dedicated servers to choose from, all of which are priced right in line with industry averages. Their VPS choices are much more extensive, almost to the point of being overwhelming. The fact that there are so many, however, does make it so you’ll be able to find one in your price range, which is nice, especially for customers who are on the edge between needing shared and VPS services.
If you need a virtual private server (VPS) this is a great company to consider. They have a lot of different VPS packages to review so you’ll surely find something that works for you. They also have shared services and dedicated servers, but the bulk of their effort is clearly focused on VPS. Having the other options is nice, however, since it will let you upgrade or downgrade easily if needed.
