To test how well Host IT Smart performs under real workloads, I carried out a set of performance benchmarks on the VPS I purchased. The tests included sysbench (CPU, memory, disk I/O), network speed tests with Speedtest CLI, and stress testing to simulate high load.

For context, I ran these tests on my VPS with the following specs: 8 vCPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB Disk

OS: AlmaLinux 9.6

Virtualization: KVM

1. CPU Benchmark

The sysbench CPU test calculates prime numbers up to a set limit (in this case, 20,000). The metric of interest is events per second, which reflects how many calculations the CPU can complete per second.

Results:

• Events per second: 350.98
• Total time: 10 seconds
• Average latency: 2.85 ms

For an 8-core VPS, the result of ~351 events/sec is solid and indicates that Host IT Smart’s CPU allocation is strong enough for medium-to-heavy workloads. 

The latency distribution (avg 2.85 ms, max 7.79 ms) is tight, showing consistent performance without major spikes.

This means that applications requiring CPU-intensive tasks—such as data processing, application servers, or even e-commerce platforms—can run smoothly without bottlenecks.

2. Memory Benchmark

The sysbench memory test measures how fast the server can read/write to RAM. This is crucial for caching, handling concurrent users, and running applications like databases.

Results:

• Transfer speed: 13,908 MB/s
• Latency: 0.07 ms avg

A throughput of nearly 14 GB/s is impressive and confirms that the VPS is backed by high-performance RAM.

With such speed, tasks like in-memory caching (Redis, Memcached), database queries, and application performance will remain stable under load. Latency staying below 0.1 ms means responses from memory are lightning-fast.

3. Disk I/O Benchmark

Disk benchmarks simulate sequential and random reads/writes, showing how the server’s storage performs for tasks like database operations, file uploads, and serving website content.

Sequential Read:

• 272k reads/s, 4.25 GB/s throughput

Sequential Write:

• 3994 writes/s, 62.4 MB/s throughput

Random Read/Write:

• 1336 reads/s, 891 writes/s 
• Throughput: 20.8 MB/s read, 13.9 MB/s write

The sequential read speed (4.2 GB/s) is excellent, proving Host IT Smart uses fast NVMe storage for delivering content. Sequential write speed is much lower (62 MB/s), which suggests write operations are more limited.

For most workloads—like serving web pages, handling cached content, and reading from databases—the performance is very good.

However, heavy write-intensive tasks (e.g., logging, high-frequency database inserts) may not achieve the same speeds. Random I/O, which mimics database queries, is stable and adequate for small to medium-sized projects.

4. Network Speed Test

Server tested: Orange Infocom – Nagpur

• Download: 94.97 Mbps
• Upload: 94.76 Mbps
• Latency: 18.9 ms
• Packet loss: 0%

The speeds are balanced at ~95 Mbps for both download and upload. Latency under 20 ms is strong for regional connectivity in India, and the 0% packet loss means reliability is excellent.

For websites and apps serving primarily Indian or nearby regions, performance will be fast and stable. Global performance would depend on their other data centers and peering agreements.

5. Stress Test

Stress simulates high load by maxing out CPU and memory resources. I ran 8 CPU workers plus 4 memory workers (2 GB each) for 120 seconds.

The server handled the full 2-minute run without crashing, throttling, or killing processes. CPU usage maxed out as expected, but the VPS remained responsive.

This confirms Host IT Smart’s VPS is stable under heavy load. Even when pushed to the limits, it didn’t buckle, which is a good indicator for sites expecting sudden traffic spikes.

Overall Takeaway

My impression: This VPS is capable of handling resource-intensive websites, databases, and applications, especially for Indian or regional businesses. 

For high write-intensive workloads, I’d keep an eye on disk performance, but overall Host IT Smart delivered a solid and reliable VPS experience.

To test their live chat, I navigated to the top menu and hovered my cursor over “Help Center,” then selected “Live Chat.” A pop-up window immediately appeared, prompting me to enter my name, email, and phone number. I was also asked to select a department, and I chose “Sales & Billing.”

After providing my details, I posed a specific technical question about resource isolation on their shared hosting plans: “Hi. How is resource isolation handled on your shared hosting plans?”

An agent named Tabrez responded quickly, in under a minute. The initial greeting was prompt: “Hello, welcome to Host IT Smart! How may I assist you now?” Immediately following this, Tabrez addressed my core question directly: “There is a CageFS mechanism used in our shared hosting plan, where all the users are isolated from each other.”

This was a precise and reassuring answer. The agent then followed up by asking, “Could you tell me what you are planning to host on the server?” 

This follow-up question demonstrates an attempt to understand my specific needs further, which could lead to more tailored advice.

Personal Opinion on Live Chat:

• Speed: The response time was excellent. The agent replied almost instantly after I submitted my query, which is crucial for real-time support.
• Quality: The quality of the response was good. The agent directly answered my technical question about resource isolation with a specific mechanism (CageFS).

I found the live chat experience to be very positive. The immediate connection and direct answer to a technical question instill confidence in Host IT Smart’s support capabilities.

Continuing my exploration of Host IT Smart’s support offerings, beyond the live chat, knowledge base, and blog, I also looked into their ticketing system, phone support, and video tutorials.

2. Ticket Support

This support channel is specifically for users who have an active hosting account with Host IT Smart. 

It’s used for more complex issues that might require detailed investigation or account-specific information or for issues that are not urgent enough for live chat. 

Submitting a ticket creates a formal record of your query, allowing support agents to track its progress and respond within a defined timeframe.

3. Phone Support

Host IT Smart provides phone support via 079-3507-9700, so I decided to test this option to see how responsive and helpful they really are. 

I placed a call and asked a technical question about their VPS hosting uptime guarantee and how they handle outages—including resolution times and what kind of notifications customers receive during major incidents.

I was connected to a representative within a few minutes, which was a good sign of responsiveness. The agent came across as professional and answered my question clearly. They confirmed that Host IT Smart offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, explained how outages are handled, and walked me through the channels they use for outage notifications.

What I appreciated most was that they didn’t just stick to a script—they provided additional context about their monitoring systems and reassured me that resolution times are kept as short as possible thanks to their dedicated technical team.

4. Knowledge Base Review

After testing the live chat, I explored Host IT Smart’s Knowledge Base, which is accessible from the main navigation. 

The Knowledge Base is well organized. It’s divided into distinct categories like Acronis Backup, cPanel, CWP, Domain & DNS Queries, E-mail, FTP, gTLDs, etc. 

This categorical breakdown is highly beneficial, as it allows users to quickly narrow down their search by topic, making it easier to find relevant articles.

Crucially, there is also a prominent search bar at the top of the Knowledge Base. This is an excellent feature because it enables users to type in specific keywords or questions and find articles directly, without having to browse through categories if they know exactly what they’re looking for.

I opened an article under the “MySQL” category titled “How to Create a Database in MySQL With Command Line?” I found this article to be very detailed. 

The presence of such detailed, step-by-step technical guides suggests that the Knowledge Base is a comprehensive resource for users who prefer to find solutions themselves.

5. Blog

I also explored the Host IT Smart blog, which appears to be another valuable resource for users seeking information beyond basic support. 

The blog features “Latest Articles” that cover a range of topics. 

This makes the blog not just a marketing tool but a source of educational content that adds value to the user experience.

4. Video Tutorials

Finally, I discovered that Host IT Smart provides video tutorials as part of their support ecosystem. 

These tutorials are hosted on YouTube, specifically within a playlist titled “Tutorials” by Host IT Smart.

The inclusion of video tutorials is a significant advantage. For many users, especially visual learners, watching someone perform a task step-by-step is far more effective than reading a text-based guide.

Ease of Use

I decided to evaluate the ease of use of Host IT Smart by focusing on three main areas: the registration process, the dashboard interface, and how server management works. 

These elements are essential because they shape your first impression and overall experience with the platform.

1. Registration

To begin my journey with Host IT Smart, I first navigated to their website. From the homepage, I observed the navigation bar at the top, and under the “Servers” dropdown, I noticed “VPS Hosting” as an option.

I clicked on “VPS Hosting” which led me to a page displaying various VPS plans.

On the VPS plans page, I was presented with four distinct options: VPS-SM1, VPS-SM2, VPS-SM3, and VPS-SM4. Each plan listed its specifications, such as vCPU Cores, RAM, Disk Space, and Bandwidth, along with a monthly price. 

I ultimately decided to proceed with the VPS-SM4 plan, which offered 8 vCPU Cores, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB Enterprise SSD, and 2 TB bandwidth.

This action took me to the configuration page. At the top, I saw three steps indicated: “CONFIGURATION,” “SIGN IN / SIGN UP,” and “BILLING INFO.” 

Currently, I was on the “CONFIGURATION” step. The first choice I had to make was the “Billing Cycle.” The default option was “1 Month,” but I noticed a “12 Months” option, which offered a significant discount.

I chose the “12 Months” billing cycle to take advantage of the savings.

Below that, I could see my “Base server config…” which showed the specifications of the VPS-SM4 plan I had selected: 8 Core CPU, 32 GB RAM, 400 GB Disk Space, 32 TB Bandwidth, and 1 Dedicated IP, along with “SELF-MANAGED VPS” under VPS Management.

Next, I moved on to the “Configurable Options” section. Here, I needed to select the operating system. I went with AlmaLinux 9 FREE. There were also fields for “Control Panel” and “Backup,” both of which were set to “None” by default, and I left them as they were. 

Finally, I had to “Set Your Hostname.” A pre-filled hostname was already provided, and I kept it as it was.

At the bottom of this page, after reviewing my selections, I scrolled down to ensure I hadn’t missed anything. I then saw a checkbox that read, “By checking this checkbox, you agree to…” 

I checked this box to proceed and clicked the “Continue to Checkout” button.

Clicking “Continue to Checkout” brought me to the “SIGN IN / SIGN UP” page. Since I was a new user, I chose the “Create Account” option. To create my account, I entered my email address and set up a password. 

Upon submitting this information, I was prompted to verify my email address before I could continue. Once my email was successfully verified, I was able to proceed to the final step.

The final step was the “PAYMENT” page, where I could see my “ORDER SUMMARY” on the right side. Below the order summary, I saw various payment methods displayed, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal, and Discover. 

At the very bottom of the page, I saw a prominent “Continue to Checkout” button. After confirming my order details, I clicked this button to initiate the payment process. 

This redirected me to the PayPal login page, where I had the option to either enter my email address or mobile number to log in to PayPal or choose the “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” option if I preferred not to use a PayPal account.

Review of the Sign-Up Process:

I found the sign-up process on Host IT Smart to be quite straightforward and generally easy to follow.

• Clarity of Steps: The progression from selecting a plan to configuring it, then creating an account, and finally proceeding to payment was logical and well-structured.
• Information Presentation: The plan details were clearly laid out, and the configuration options were intuitive.
• Account Creation: Creating an account was simple. The email verification step, while an extra step, is standard for security and did not pose a significant hurdle.

2. Client Area

After completing the sign-up process, my next priority was to review the client area. It’s crucial to evaluate the client area because it serves as the central hub for managing all aspects of your hosting services, billing, and support. 

A well-designed client area significantly contributes to the overall user experience, making daily tasks efficient and less frustrating.

To access the client area, once I logged in, I navigated to the top menu. I saw “Home,” “Services,” “Domains,” “Website & Security,” “Billing,” “Support,” and “Open Ticket.” I clicked on “Services” and then selected “My Services” from the dropdown menu.

This action led me to the “My Products & Services” page. Here, I encountered a clear and concise table. The table had columns for “Product/Service,” “Pricing,” “Next Due Date,” and “Status.” 

This layout was very easy to understand at a glance. It immediately showed me what services I had, their cost, when they were due, and their current operational status.

My Personal Take on the Client Area:

What I found was a clean and functional interface. The layout is straightforward, and the information presented is exactly what a user needs to see at a high level. 

I particularly liked the clear categorization of services and the immediate visibility of the service status. This transparency is excellent for quickly checking if everything is running as it should.

Where improvement could be made is perhaps in offering more immediate actions directly from this “My Products & Services” overview page, without needing to click into the service details. However, this is a minor point, as clicking “Active” did lead me to more options.

3. Server and Hosting Management

Next, I wanted to see how easy it would be to manage my hosting in Host IT Smart. This is an incredibly important aspect because efficient server management directly impacts your ability to deploy websites, manage databases, set up emails, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. A user-friendly server management interface can save countless hours and prevent potential headaches.

From the “My Products & Services” page, I clicked the “Active” button next to my listed service to view its details. This took me to the account details page for my specific hosting service.

On this page, I could see various options on the left-hand side under an “Actions” heading.

Among these options, I located “Login to cPanel.” I clicked on “Login to cPanel.”

This action smoothly redirected me to the cPanel login page in a new window, and I was automatically logged directly into the cPanel interface. 

This seamless single sign-on experience is a significant convenience, as it eliminates the need to remember separate cPanel login credentials.

Server Management on cPanel:

When I logged into Host IT Smart’s cPanel, I was immediately presented with the familiar, robust control panel that most webmasters rely on. 

The interface gave me direct access to tools for managing both the server and my website.

Inside Host IT Smart’s cPanel, I found everything organized into clear sections:

• Files: File Manager for uploading, editing, and managing files, along with FTP Accounts and Backup wizards.
• Databases: MySQL Databases, phpMyAdmin for database management, and PostgreSQL options.
• Domains: Tools to add Addon Domains, create Subdomains, manage DNS records, and set up Redirects.
• Email: Full email management including creating accounts, setting up Forwarders, Autoresponders, Spam Filters, and accessing Webmail.
• Metrics: Tracking features like Visitors, Errors, Bandwidth usage, and Awstats to monitor performance.
• Security: SSL/TLS setup, IP Blocker, and Hotlink Protection for added safety.
• Software: One-click installs via Softaculous Apps Installer, plus options for PHP Version Selector and Perl Modules.
